Haeundae Beach

Jaesun and I went to Haeundae Beach last Saturday. The beach is the most popular in Korea. In the picture above it looks like half of Korea is there at the beach. But the picture doesn't do it justice. The beach looked much more crowded than this picture shows. And Jaesun told me that she has been there when even more people were there.

Haeundae is quite different than any beach I have ever been to. There were so many people walking the beaches selling chicken, rice cakes, beer, and gimbap. I would say that there were so many that at any given time one was within range for me to ask for some food. Three of them even stopped under the shade of our umbrella to drink of bottle of booze together.

Also, in the water people are not allowed to swim freely. To me, it looked like the lifeguards go into the water until the water touches their chest, then they make sure no one can pass that point in the water. The water was usually at about waist level for me.

Here is Jaesun getting hit by a wave and striking a pose. She looks like she can be in a commercial for beer or gum or any company that wants to use the ocean in their ad.
