License to hit

The class that the director and I teach on alternating days is terrible. They drive me crazy and I know they drive the director crazy too. One kid kept talking while I was talking so I said, "One more time" then pointed to the door. Right away the kid talked over me again so I told him to get out. He said, "No." I reiterated my desire for him to leave and he responded with a laugh. I then scared him and the rest of the class (and myself a little too) when I strided to him then grabbed and dragged him to the door. The little brat slipped away when I tried to open the door to throw him out.

After class the director called me over to her to talk. I was expecting a lecture on how I am not supposed to be rough with the kids, but it was the opposite. She told me that if I wanted to I could hit the kids in that class. She then demonstrated the best methods of corporal punishment in Korea. Smacking either side of a students' hand with a pencil or ruler was highly recommended. I told her there is no way I could hit these kids. But I must be honest with you readers: During the demonstration I was trying my best to come up with an arguement to defeat my currently held stance that it is bad for a teacher to hit kids. Fortunately or unfortunately, I had no success.
