Good Students

I tore apart Nicolas and Nick in my previous post, and I feel kind of bad about it. What I said was all true, though, so I'm not going to take it back. I'll just share some stories of my good students.

Jacob-This boy was the terror in my most hated class when I first started teaching. I dreaded dealing with Jacob every Monday and Wednesday. I was a little afraid of this guy. But he's changed. He expertly does his homework and classwork. He even helps me keep the other students from talking too much, and he gets angry when they don't pay attention to me. It's Wedensday morning now, and I'm looking forward to teaching Jacob.

Alyssa-One day, I had a headache, and I just walked into my first class of the day. They kids were screaming and my headache intensified. My smallest student, Alyssa, climbed into my chair and stood behind me. I thought she was going to yell in my ears, but instead she started giving me a massage. She is so small, that I'm still taller than her even with her standing in my chair behind me. The massage was nice. My headache went away. I couldn't concentrate on teaching. Then, suddenly, Alyssa was sitting on my shoulders laughing hysterically and my massage ended. The headache never came back, and she saved me from a terrible day.

Issac-This boy is so smart. I can have a normal conversation with him. He knows he's smart too, and he doesn't shy away from telling people how smart he is. He is the smartest, most athletic, and most arrogant student at the school. I like him immensely.

Bryan-He's the most talkative of my middle school students. I can have a conversation with him, too. Every class I basically just teach him, because the other students are too worn out from their 9 hours of school that day. He made me really happy one weekend when he sent me a text message that asked, "I don't know=I have no idea. Is this the same?" I was happy he was doing something with English on the weekend.

Scott-tells me the soccer scores of the games he's watched since we've last seen each other
Erica-a really quiet and smart girl, who absorbs everything I say the first time I say it
Alice-smart, but I like her because she tells me I'm handsome about once a week
Mary-she's in a beginner class, and it infuriates her when the other students talk in Korean and not English
